During the weeklong program, Varian needed to plan several internal and external events including a Johns Hopkins Dinner for 50, a Leadership Dinner for 75, a Users Meeting Evening Event for 400 and a Reception open to all ATRSO attendees with an expected attendance of nearly 3,500.

TRANSPORTATION CASE STUDY

CCA Global Partners selected Denver as the site for their annual convention. It was the first time that CCA Global, a Co-op of carpet and other diverse industries, came together under one roof for an annual convention. This created over ten internal groups within the convention all with varying arrival days, meeting agendas, field trips and off-site events.

SPECIAL EVENT CASE STUDY

The National Apartment Association (NAA), a national federation of state and local apartment associations, chose Denver as host to their Annual Convention, which drew 3,000 out-of-state attendees and several sub-groups. At each annual convention, NAA hosts a Welcome Reception. After many site visits and various venue options for this event, NAA selected the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This year they wanted a “WOW” kick-off event that featured Colorado elements as well as a platform to recognize the association’s sponsors, a very important aspect of the event.

SPECIAL EVENT 2 CASE STUDY

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the premier association of health information management professionals dedicated to improving the quality of medical records, brought their Annual Convention to Denver. Each year they hold a Closing Party that is indicative to the host region. For Colorado the client wanted to create an event that would be unique and different from anything they’d done in the past. With the 2,500 group size, venues were limited and the client loved the concept of a Wild, Wild West theme and Rodeo to highlight our history and heritage. Most importantly, the event needed to have an abundance of entertainment through the entirety of the event space to ensure guests would have a great time all night long!

DINE AROUND CASE STUDY

Millennium Pharmaceuticals selected the Westin Westminster for their company’s Annual Meeting. Nearly 200 Managers and Sales Representatives made the trip to Colorado. Each of the twelve (12) divisions needed a separate restaurant with private or semi-private dining space available for 12-15 attendees. All restaurants needed to be of equal caliber with menus offering conservative fare. Ethnic restaurants had not been well received in previous years so some of Denver’s hottest restaurants were off limits.

TOUR CASE STUDY

Over 1,200 train junkies, members of the Lionel Collectors Club of America, flew into Colorado and enjoyed a week of meetings, exhibits and specialty tours. The members of the organization are hobby train enthusiasts and most consider the LCCA Convention their annual summer vacation. The Meeting Planner’s main goal was to create a tour program that highlighted the state’s numerous attractions. Being train collectors, the planners also indicated a desire to include as many train and railway related attractions as time permitted. The final tour program offered to attendees included six ‘trains’, four sightseeing excursions and two private train layout tours.

WINTER ACTIVITIES CASE STUDY

Headquartered in South Africa, Dimension Data is a specialist IT services and solution provider that helps clients plan, build and support their IT infrastructures. Particularly cognizant of the value of rewarding top performers, Dimension Data takes its top sales people (and significant others) on an all-expenses-paid weeklong trip each year – alternating warm and cold weather destinations. The bar was significantly raised yet despite the heightened goals, the thought of Vail, Colorado inspired nearly 100 employees to earn the trip. With spouses, guests and management, the group totaled just fewer than 200!

COSTCO Tire Center Management approached The Arrangers with the need for a creative teambuilding program for 460 young men that have never participated in such an activity before. They were convening in Denver for a week long sales and training program and the company had one night to get them off-site for some fun and camaraderie.

Seagate Technology has been at the forefront of the data storage industry for more than 25 years. During one of the coldest and snowiest Colorado winters on record, 225 members of Seagate’s sales force traveled to Denver to meet at the Omni Interlocken for their Americas Sales Meeting. Never having met in a cold weather destination, the client wanted to take advantage of the snow-covered Colorado Mountains for their teambuilding program and she decided on a Snow theme.
